Digital Natives: Internship Opportunities

The Digital Natives project is a collaboration between the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School and the Research Center for Information Law at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Digital Natives are young people whose use of technology is completely ingrained in their lives - they have grown up always-on and constantly-connected. This project focuses on the key legal, social, educational and political implications of this generational shift and the changing relationships between people and information that comprise it.

Current Opportunities

HTML.CSS/Web Design:

Digital Natives is looking for an intern to refine, clean and modify an educational website for middle school students.  The site teaches copyright, fair use and creative commons through video tutorials, interactive games and kid-friendly definitions.  The site is simple, built in HTML and CSS via Dreamweaver.  Our ideal candidate will be comfortable in web design and construction; Dreamweaver; Photoshop; CSS; and HTML. Ideally this person could skin our new blog, maintain updates, build out new pages, organize our navigation systems, and clean up our code.  This person should be able to work on location at Berkman.  We are pilot testing this curriculum over the fall season and we could use ongoing help.  If applicants are interested in evaluation and classroom testing, they may join us in these endeavors.

Reporters in the Field Media Production:

Digital Natives Reporters in the Field is looking for interns to research, report and produce audio and video clips for our ongoing media series.  The internship requires 5-10 hours a week.  Must be proficient in Final Cut and camera/audio equipment.  Ideal candidates can set-up interviews, get clearance, record, edit, post and produce.  This internship is great for independent self-starters who have stories to tell.   Take a look at our blog for video examples.

Education, Evaluation & Research:

The Creative Rights curriculum is looking for interns to help evaluate interactive games and videos about fair use and creative commons. We will be going into middle school classrooms all year long and we need help.  The internship is flexible.  Ideal candidates are interested in learning, education and media literacy.
